Mission

We are a faith-based nonprofit organization that compassionately reaches out to the refugee community with the love of Christ and supportive resources for their transition into American culture. It is our goal to help refugees successfully become self-sufficient in their new society by providing a variety of programs that offer practical and spiritual care.

ministry Distinction

Love Is Ministry is committed to ensuring that all of our programming, planning, and operational decision-making is rooted in fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). Specifically, Love Is Ministry focuses on equipping refugees who choose to follow Christ to extend their knowledge of God to their community (multiplication), and we would be willing and able to extend our ministry to any refugee community where physical and spiritual care is needed (replication).

core values

  • We value the importance of loving refugees as our neighbors and specifically helping them integrate into American society.

  • We value Christian practices that influence our approach to our work, specifically evangelism, discipleship, and prayerful reliance on God.

  • We value the importance of working together as staff, volunteers, partners, and local emerging leaders being trained to serve with our ministry.

  • We value the importance of relying on and partnering with the body of Christ (the Church) to serve and use their gifts to meet the refugee community's physical and spiritual needs.

  • We value the importance of prayerfully considering new programs or places that help Love Is Ministry fulfill our vision and mission

vision

  • We envision refugees from many different nations experiencing the love and knowledge of God—reflecting God’s deliberate vision for all people as expressed in Revelation 7:9-10: "After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands; and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, 'Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.'"

  • We envision a variety of programs that develop essential skills, foster strong community relationships, and express the dignity and sacred value of each member of the community—both the refugee and our program volunteers.
