In a world of conflict, people are looking for peace and stability. We are blessed to live in the United States because, despite all the political turmoil around us, we still have peace and democracy. If we look around the world today, we see conflicts of wars. In the Middle East, such as Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, millions of people are displaced from their homes. Terrorism is all over the world, and the reason we haven't seen a massive attack in the United States is because we have a strong military security. We need to be thankful for the peace that God has blessed us. Imagine living in the war conflicting country. We will be like those people who are living in tents or temporary shelters. Death is always around the corner. In spite of the internal political conflicts that are going on in this country, we can still go home in peace and not worry about being bombed. So, let us praise God and be thankful for the freedom that we have. Let us not take for granted the peace that we have and always be thankful to God.
Psalm 98:7-9 says, "Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! Let the earth and all living things join in. Let the rivers clap their hands in glee! Let the hills sing out their songs of joy before the Lord, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice, and the nations with fairness." There will come a day when our LORD will come to judge the earth of its wickedness and bring forth justice and fairness to all nations. Our Lord Jesus will come back to rule on this earth for a thousand years (Revelation 20) and will rule with righteousness. The Bible says that when He rules at that time, there will not be world conflicts. All the weapons will turn into useful farming tools. People will work and not worry about wars because our Lord Jesus will judge every nation. Terrorism will be gone, and greedy nations will stop conquering other nations. All nations will prosper under the rulership of our Lord Jesus. In addition, our Lord Jesus will restore the environment. There will not be pollution, and the animals will be at peace.
Romans 8:19-21 says, "For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. Against its will, all creation was subjected to God's curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God's children in glorious freedom from death and decay."
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Why do I need to be thankful for this country despite the political conflicts? What does the Bible say about the return of my Lord Jesus on this earth? What lesson did my Lord
Jesus have shown me in today's devotion?
Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, Thank you for bringing peace to the United States and preventing war within our borders. Please help me not to take for granted the peace that we have in this country, and always be thankful for your blessings. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
