Psalm 104:1-5 describes the greatness and majesty of God through His creation. It says, "Let all that I am praise the Lord. O Lord my God, how great you are! You are robed with honor and majesty. You are dressed in a robe of light. You stretch out the starry curtain of the heavens; you lay out the rafters of your home in the rain clouds. You make the clouds your chariot; you ride upon the wings of the wind. The winds are your messengers; flames of fire are your servants. You placed the world on its foundation so it would never be moved." God deserves all the praise, for He has created everything in the universe and everything in it. Genesis 1:14-18 shows how God created the sun, the moon, and the stars, "Then God said, 'Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth.' And that is what happened. God made two great lights—the larger one to govern the day (sun), and the smaller one to govern the night (moon). He also made the stars. God set these lights in the sky to light the earth, to govern the day and night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good."
There is nothing on this earth that God did not create. God created everything for His honor, and He is the owner of everything. He uses everything that He created to fulfill His purpose and plan. In moments of doubt about God's existence, let us find inspiration in the beauty of nature surrounding us—the majestic mountains, the vast sky, the shimmering stars, the powerful ocean, and the resilient trees. God constantly takes care of His creation, and if God takes care of His creation, He absolutely takes care of us as His image bearer. Among all of His creations, we are the most prized of His creations because God created us in His own image. The reason I like to go hiking in the mountains is that I enjoy the beauty of God's creation. I could sense the greatness and majesty of God through His creation, and it moves me to praise Him with all I am.
I want to encourage us to go out and enjoy God's creation. The weather right now is perfect for going outside—it is not as hot as in the summer yet. Let us take a hike and be renewed with fresh air. There are times we feel so much pressure on us, and we need to go outside and be refreshed. Let God minister to us through His creation.
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) When was the last time I took time to enjoy God's creation? What is all God's creation display? Why am I the most prized of God's creation?
Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, how magnificent you are, my God! You are the creator of everything, and you created me according to your image so that I can relate to you as your child. Please help me appreciate all your creations, for they display your greatness and majesty. I praise you with all of I am. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
