Change is always a part of life. As the seasons change, so do our lives. As the color of leaves changes from green to dark red in the fall, so do our situations. We never know what change will happen tomorrow, but one thing remains, our God remains the same. His faithfulness and love for us as His children remain the same. When God chose Joshua to lead the nation of Israel to its new era, God said this to Joshua, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9)." Joshua's life changed when God chose him to replace Moses' position as the leader of Israel. He was chosen to lead the younger generations of the nation of Israel to conquer the land that God promised them. As Joshua encountered new challenges as the new leader of the new generations of Israel, God encouraged him to be strong and courageous. God also promised Joshua that He would be with him wherever he went. Joshua successfully led the nation of Israel to the promised land because God was always before him and fought for him.
In the same manner, God is encouraging us today to be strong and courageous in Him, for He is always with us wherever we go. We may face new challenges today, but God is with us. Our security and hope in the midst of changes is our God alone because He remains faithful. When we see the sunrise and sunset every day, we see God's faithfulness. God is faithful to keep us warm during the day and keep us rested at night. Let us always remember that our difficult circumstances don't change God's faithfulness. Our circumstances change us, but not God. We will experience doubt, anxiousness, fear, worries, and weariness, but God is always confident that He will carry us through our difficult circumstances. He is going to give us the strength and wisdom on how to carry on through the difficult circumstances that we are in. Changes surprise us, but not God because God is an all-knowing God. He knows the past, the present, and the future. God always sees the whole picture of things.
Let us be strong and courageous in facing new changes in our lives. Let us trust God's faithfulness and love for us. He will carry us through the changes of life.
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Can I avoid changes? How should I deal with changes in my life? What is God's command in dealing with change?
Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, I realize that change is inevitable, and I thank you for always being faithful to be there for me. Please help me to be strong and courageous in facing difficult changes in my life. Please give me wisdom on what to do and provide everything that I need. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
