DO NOT BE FEARFUL

All of us will inevitably face challenging situations, and we cannot avoid them because it is a part of living in a world full of sin. Some of us may be going through a difficult situation right now, but God is encouraging us not to be afraid this morning. When the king of Judah, Hezekiah, was surrounded by his Assyrian enemies, he didn't have anywhere else to escape. The Assyrians were too powerful, and the only thing stopping the Assyrians from destroying his city and palace was the fortification around the city. He knew that his days were numbered if nothing changed. He tried everything that He could possibly do to protect his city and his people, but everything was of no avail. The only hope that he had left was God. So Hezekiah humbled himself before God and asked Isaiah, the prophet, to pray to God on behalf of the kingdom. God then answered through Isaiah, "Don't be afraid because of the things you have heard—these insults the king of Assyria's servants have hurled against me. Look, I will take control of his mind; he will receive a report and return to his own land. I will cut him down with a sword in his own land." (Isaiah 37:6-7).

When we face challenging situations that are too difficult for us to handle and seem we don't have a solution for them, we tend to panic and become fearful. But let us not be afraid because we have a God, the God of no impossibilities. When Hezekiah trusted God, God came to rescue him and his people. The king of Assyria died precisely the way God described it through the prophet Isaiah. Hezekiah experienced the power of God in his situation because he trusted God. His faith in God overcame his fear.

As believers, we need to remind ourselves that we have God with us, and He is for us. Let us not walk in fear, no matter how difficult our situation is. Let us walk in faith. God said these words in Jeremiah 37:27, "I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?" Let us humble ourselves before our God and trust in Him completely, and our fear will be overcome with our faith; thus, we will find peace and security in the midst of our challenging situation.

Ask yourself these questions: How can I overcome my fear? Do I believe that God is with me and for me? Who can help me in a difficult situation?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you that you are the God of no impossibilities, and I can trust you completely. Please help me not to be afraid, especially when I am facing a challenging situation. Please help me to walk in faith in you. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
