Psalm 92:4-8 says, "For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord; I sing for joy at what your hands have done. How great are your works, Lord, how profound your thoughts! Senseless people do not know, fools do not understand, that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever. But you, Lord, are forever exalted." The verses above give a reason why we make music for our God. When we understand the goodness of God in our lives, we end up praising and worshipping Him. God is the one who saved us from our sins through our Lord Jesus' death and resurrection. God is the one who sustains us every day. He provides us our daily needs and takes care of us. Those who do not believe in Jesus do not understand the works of God in our lives; as a result, they do not appreciate God. They say and do things that insult the name of our Lord Jesus; however, God will judge them in the end, and they will not have any excuse before Him.
The great thing about praise and worship songs is that they remind us of God's wonderful deeds and goodness. I often praise and worship God while I am driving because of the praise and worship songs that I am listening to. I remember the car behind me was honking at me at the traffic light because I wasn't moving when the green light turned on because my eyes were closed while I was expressing my gratitude to our God. I was so focused on worshipping God in my heart and mind that I forgot that I was driving. There are also times when I began to tear up because I realized how much God loves me through the songs that I was listening to. God uses praise and worship songs to minister to us. He provided those amazing songs to touch our hearts. People raise their hands during worship as a sign of surrender and reverence before God. Those who do not have a genuine relationship with our Lord Jesus will never understand what praise and worship are all about.
Let us take a moment to reflect on God's goodness in our lives. As we do, let us lift our voices in praise and worship. Let us fill our hearts and minds with Christian songs that lift our spirits to God, allowing Him to minister to us through these songs. Whether we are working, resting, walking, running, cooking, driving, or doing our daily chores, let us make a conscious effort to praise and worship God, for He is always with us.
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Why is it important to listen to praise and worship songs? Why is it important to reflect on God's goodness in my life? Why do I praise and worship God?
Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, I praise and worship you for your lovingkindness. You have been sustaining me both spiritually and physically. Your great love for me is so amazing. I am what I am today because of your great work in my life. Please fill my heart with praise and worship all throughout the day. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
