GOD ALWAYS STANDS BY HIS PROMISES

One of God's characteristics is He always stands by His promises. God always keeps His promises and fulfills what He says He will. When God promised Abraham that He would be a great nation and all the families of the world would be blessed through Him, God fulfilled them according to His timing. Abraham had Isaac, and Isaac had Jacob, and Jacob had his twelve sons. And through His twelve sons, our Lord Jesus was born through the line Judah, who is the fourth oldest son of Jacob. God promised them a land where they could dwell as a nation, and He led the Israelites to the land of Canaan. God has been guiding them all along despite their rebellion. In 586 BC, the nation of Israel lost the ownership of their land because of their rebellion against God. The Babylonian Empire conquered their land, and when the Persian Empire defeated the Babylonian Empire, they took ownership of the land of Israel. Then, the Greek Empire conquered the Persian Empire and took ownership of the land of Israel, then after the Greek Empire, the Roman Empire took over the land of Israel. When the Roman Empire dissolved, the Byzantine Empire took over, and then the Ottoman Empire took control in 1517. In 1917, the British took over the land, and finally, in 1948, the United Nations established the State of Israel, and the nation of Israel had its own land again. For hundreds of years, God still fulfilled His promise to the nation of Israel that they would own their own land.

God does not lie. He stays true to His promise. Psalm 105:7-11 says, "He is the Lord our God. His justice is seen throughout the land. He always stands by his covenant—the commitment he made to a thousand generations. This is the covenant he made with Abraham and the oath he swore to Isaac. He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, and to the people of Israel as a never-ending covenant: 'I will give you the land of Canaan as your special possession.'" God still fulfilled His promise regardless of what is going on in History. If God fulfilled His promise to the nation of Israel, God will certainly keep His promise to us as His children. When God says that He will take care of us, there is no doubt that He will take care of us. When fear and uncertainty overwhelm our minds, we need to remind ourselves and believe in our hearts that God will take care of us.

Satan is very good at putting fear and uncertainty into our minds, but let us reject Satan's lies with the truth of God's Word, that God is faithful to fulfill His promise to us that He will take care of us forever.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) How did God show His faithfulness to the nation of Israel? What should I do when I am overwhelmed with fear and uncertainty? What is God encouraging me through today's devotion?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, I am blessed to be reminded that you are faithful to fulfill your promises. Please help me remember your promises that you will always take care of me when my mind is overwhelmed with fear and uncertainty. Please help me to believe that you will never let me go and you will take care of what concerns me today. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
