GOD CHOSE US TO BE HIS

Psalm 89:20-23 beautifully illustrates how God, in His infinite wisdom, chose David to be the King of Israel. Despite David's weaknesses and sins, God's unwavering care for him is a comforting reminder of His grace and mercy. Psalm 89:20-23 says, "I have found my servant David. I have anointed him with my holy oil. I will sustain him with my hand; with my powerful arm, I will make him strong. His enemies will not defeat him, nor will the wicked overpower him. I will crush his adversaries before him and destroy those who hate him." God chose David because when he was just a boy, He had so much passion for God. David's heart was after God's heart (Acts 13:22). Although he was not a perfect person, David had so much faith in God. Before David fought and killed the mighty warrior, Goliath, he testified to King Saul and the Israelite soldiers that the God who had protected Him against bears and lions would fight for him. God always fought for David. As a result, David died in old age.

Just as God chose David as the King of Israel, God has chosen each and every one of us as His own children. As a result, God has promised us that He will always sustain us with His hands, give us strength with His powerful arms, and fight for us to defeat our enemies. In John 15:16, Jesus said, "You didn't choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name." And Ephesians 1:4 says, "Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes." God chose us to be His and walk in His ways before He created the world. God knew us before we even existed. So, God chose us not because we are perfect but because of His grace, mercy, and love. God chose us, and He promised that He will take care of us.

God understands our weaknesses and knows our struggles in life. Let us continue to trust Him and walk in His ways. In our own strength, we cannot win against sin or fix our problems. But God promised us that He is the one who will give us the strength to win against our sins and fix our problems. Let us lean on God in everything because He takes care of us.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) When did God choose me to be His? Who can help me to overcome my sins and problems? How should I live my life knowing that God has chosen me?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for choosing me to be yours before the foundation of the world. Thank you for always being my strength and the sustainer of my life. I admit that I need you to overcome my sins and fix my problems, for with my own strength and wisdom, I can't win. But with your power, strength, and wisdom, I can overcome anything that comes my way. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
