Psalm 77:7-15 says, "I asked, 'Will the Lord reject me forever? Will he never again show me his favor? Has his loyal love disappeared forever? Has his promise failed forever? Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has his anger stifled his compassion?' Then I said, 'I am sickened by the thought that the sovereign One might become inactive. I will remember the works of the Lord. Yes, I will remember the amazing things you did long ago! I will think about all you have done; I will reflect upon your deeds!' O God, your deeds are extraordinary! What can God compare to our great God? You are the God who does amazing things; you have revealed your strength among the nations. You delivered your people by your strength—the children of Jacob and Joseph.'" It is easy to think for some of us that God has rejected us when we go through difficult times. We can think that all the suffering that we are going through is a result of God's rejection of us. However, God never rejects those who believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
It is important for us to remember what our Lord Jesus did on the cross for our sins. He saved us with His own life. If our Heavenly Father sacrificed His only Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross to save us, He will never reject us. When we go through difficult situations, our God is in us, suffering with us. He feels what we feel and knows the hurt that we are having. He sees our doubts and fears. Let us never think for a moment that we are alone and that God does not care about us and our situations. He is always walking with us because He lives in us. Galatians 2:20 says, "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." In our difficult situations, we need to trust our God and obey His leadership. Let go of trying to control the situations, but let God handle our situations by doing what God is leading us to do.
God will never abandon or reject us because we are His. God does not reject us, but He loves us until the end. However, our responsibility is not to reject Him but to obey and trust Him.
Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Can God reject me as His child? Why is it important to know that God lives in me? What should I do when I go through difficult situations?
Write down all the worries you face today and lift them to God.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven, I am thankful for reminding me today that you will never abandon or reject me as your child. I praise you, for you are always with me because you live in me. Please help me to trust and obey you in the midst of my sufferings. Please help me to let go of the control and let you handle my problems. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
