GOD'S MAJESTY

Psalm 93 describes God's majesty: "The Lord reigns! He is robed in majesty, the Lord is robed, he wears strength around his waist. Indeed, the world is established; it cannot be moved. Your throne has been secure from ancient times; you have always been king" (1-2). God's majesty refers to the beauty of God's sovereign holiness and power. God's sovereign power created and preserved all His creation. Psalm 93:3-4 says, "The waves roar, O Lord, the waves roar, the waves roar and crash. Above the sound of the surging water, and the mighty waves of the sea, the Lord sits enthroned in majesty." He created the waves to store solar radiation to distribute heat and moisture around the globe and drive weather systems. No matter how powerful the waves of the ocean are, they are under the sovereign authority of God. We have seen the devastation of tidal waves, such as tsunamis, in Japan, Thailand, and other Asian countries a few years back. No technology or invention of humankind can protect people from such a disaster. We can detect the formation of hurricanes in the ocean, but we do not have the power to contain its power. Only God can tame such immense power.

When Jesus was sleeping on a boat with his disciples, a sudden violent storm in the sea of Galilee surged against them and the powerful waves pushed the water in the boat that they were about to sink. The disciples panicked and woke up Jesus and Jesus got up and commanded the storm to be still, and it immediately stopped. This event is just a snippet of the amazing power of God over His creation. If God can tame such powerful waves, how much more can he tame the storms of our lives? No power on this earth escapes His majesty. We can trust God's majesty. He always sits on His throne, caring for us. Just like the earth cannot escape the powerful force of hurricanes, we cannot escape hardship and problems of life, but we have a God who can tame everything. Let us embrace God and lean on Him, for He is the only one who can tame the storms of lives.

Psalm 93:5 says, "Your royal laws cannot be changed. You reign, O LORD, is holy forever and ever." In a world of uncertainty and change, we can either worry or be anxious or trust in the unchanging majesty of our God. His laws, His reign, His holiness-these are eternal and unwavering. Let us lean on the majesty of God, for He cares about us, providing us with a stable and trustworthy foundation in the midst of life's storms.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Who can calm the storms of my life? What should I do when facing the storm of my life? Do I trust the majesty of God?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them toHis will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, You reign with your majesty and holiness. I bow down before you and acknowledge you are my sovereign God. You alone reign, and no one is above you. You sit on your throne, and nothing escapes your power. Please calm the storm of my life. I honor and worship you. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
