GOD'S PROVIDENCE

One of the most hated groups of people in the world is the Jews. Several times in human history, the Jews were almost completely wiped out of the face of the earth. However, by God's providence, they always survive. During the time of Queen Esther, Haman suggested to the most powerful King in the entire world at that time, the King of Persia, to annihilate all the Jews in his vast kingdom, but Queen Esther intervened and saved the Jews. Today, the Jews celebrate this event, called the feast of Purim. The feast of Purim this year will be celebrated on March 13 - 14. Then, in World War II, Hitler executed a plan to annihilate the Jews. He succeeded in killing six million Jews, but after World War II, they received their independence as a nation. In 1948, the United Nations declared them a sovereign nation and given land in the Middle East. Right after the declaration of Israel's nation, six Arab nations, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq, immediately attacked Israel. Although Israel was outnumbered and outgunned, they managed to survive and gain more territory from their surrounding enemies through God's providence. It happened again in 1956, 1967, and 1973. Just recently, Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Iran tried to destroy Israel, but Israel got the upper hand against all of them.

There is no doubt that God is preserving the nation of Israel because of God's promise to Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3). Although the Jews predominantly do not believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior, God still remembers His promise to Abraham. Psalm 102:27-28 says, "But you are always the same; you will live forever. The children of your people will live in security. Their children's children will thrive in your presence." There will come a day when Jews will come to know and believe in our Lord Jesus. God promised that He would restore them as a spiritual nation. If God has been faithful to fulfill His promise to Abraham, God will also fulfill His promises to us as His children. We are going to overcome all our problems because God is on our side. With God's sovereign hand constantly at work in our lives, nothing can destroy us. Israel almost got wiped out, but God intervened on their behalf. They not only survived but defeated their enemies.

No matter how much we suffer in this world, we will overcome because God is with us. We may feel defeated or get knocked down at times, but we are not out. We are still in the fight because God is fighting for us. When we do not have the strength to fight any longer, He will carry and protect us with His loving arms. He will never give up on us because He loves us and is forever faithful.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Do I believe with all my heart that God is faithful to carry me through this life? How do I know that I will overcome all the problems that I am facing right now? Who is the one who preserves my life because He loves and cares about me?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, Thank you for encouraging me today and reminding me that I will overcome the problems I am facing because you are with me. Please help me trust you by following your lead. Please help me not to trust my own understanding but to surrender everything to you so that you may guide me to the right path. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
