GREAT HIGH PRIEST

When our Lord Jesus rose from the dead after He died for our sin, He ascended back to heaven and became our great High Priest. A priest is someone who represents the people before God, and He represents God to the people. When people sin against God, the priest helps the people to deal with their sin so that they can be forgiven. For example, during the Old Testament time, the priest offers up animal sacrifices for the people to take care of their sins so that God could accept them. In today’s time, many people believe that we need to confess our sins to a priest so that we can be forgiven of our sins. However, when our Lord Jesus ascended back to heaven and now sitting on the right hand our Father, He became our great High Priest. Since our Lord Jesus is our great High Priest, we can confess our sin to Him directly for the forgiveness of our sin. We do not need someone to help us confess our sins to God.

Since we have our Lord Jesus as our great high priest, we should walk firmly to our faith that we profess. We should walk with confidence in our spiritual walk. God will always be faithful to forgive us of our sin when we confess our sin to Him. God knows that we are not perfect, and this is the reason He came into our lives.

There was a woman who was a drug addict and an alcoholic for at least 15 years. Her life was a mess. However, her life changed when she decided to follow Jesus. The Lord Jesus helped her to quit taking drugs and alcohol. When you see her at church today, she is filled with joy, and you will never know that she used to be a drug addict and alcoholic. Our Lord Jesus did not only forgive her sin but also changed her life completely.

We always need to remind ourselves that we have our Lord Jesus Christ as our great High Priest. He is always faithful and loving to us. We should not be afraid to ask for forgiveness every time we sin against God, and we can confess our sins to Him at any time or anywhere. He is always available for us.

Ask yourself these questions: Who do I need to confess my sin and ask for forgiveness if I sin against God? Why can I confess my sin directly to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ?

Write down the challenges that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for providing me a great High Priest. Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me from my sin and being my great High Priest. I confess all my sin to you, and I thank you for forgiving me. Please continue to change my life and make me become more like you day by day. Please help me with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
