HELPING OTHERS

God provides everything that we have, such as the food that we eat, the water that we drink, the clothes that we wear, the place where we live, the possessions that we keep, and the money that we have. Even our skills and talents come from God. When we realize that everything that we have come from God, our attitude changes when it comes to helping others. God wants to use us to show His love to others by helping them. The more we help others, the more God will bless our lives.

Several years ago, I decided to go with my church to a 14-day short-term mission trip to Thailand. There were 5 of us who went to Northern and Southern Thailand to visit and help the different refugee camps. When we went to northern Thailand, closed to Chang Mai. We started helping one of the villages that were building a clinic. We were there for two days helping them, but when it was our last day there, we found out that they needed an electrician to help them finish the clinic. It so happened that one of the guys in our team was a professional electrician. In order for him to help them, he had to quit his job and stay for a few months. Through prayer and seeking God on what he needed to do, the Lord guided him to help the villagers to set up their electricity.

God wants us to love others, not just in our words, but with our actions. When we see people in need, and we can help them with what we have, we have to be willing to help. If we have the time, skills, talents, or possessions to help others, we should help them and not expect in return. When we help people with the love of the Lord, God will bless our lives. God may not bless us with possessions, but He may bless us with His peace, love, and joy. One of the ladies in my home church in Las Vegas was so generous that God used her to encourage me to serve God in the Philippines. Although she didn't have much, she was willing to support me in every way she could. In the same manner, God has used my life to bless others with what He has provided me. I praise God for using me to change people's lives.

So when the Lord gives us the opportunity to help others, let us help right away. Let us not put it off. We will then become the channel of God's blessings. Let us start in our home. Let us help our family and friends in any way we can. Let us not be lazy because we don't want to miss the opportunity to bless others. We will never know when we will be in need, but whenever we are in need, God will provide us someone who can help us with our needs.

Ask yourself these questions: What does God say about loving others? Why is it important that I love others not only with my words but also with my actions? How does God feel when I am helping others?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for all your provision. Thank you for using others to help me when I am in need. I pray that you will also use me to help others so that I can share your love. Help me not to be lazy in helping others. I want you to use my life as a channel of your blessing. Please help me with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
