There are many promises that God has given us in the Bible that we have already received. One of those promises is that we have been raised up with Christ and seated us with Him in Heaven. Notice that the verse is already in the past tense. It means that it has already happened. Ephesians 2:8 says, "And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus." We have to be encouraged that we already have reserved a spot in Heaven no matter what happens in this world. Whether we fail or succeed, our place in Heaven is determined and set. There is nothing that can take that away from us. We are secured in Christ Jesus because of our faith in Him. We do not need to earn it. It is by grace that we are secure in Him and not from our own good works or performance.
Let us rest in our relationship with Christ. Our relationship with Him is not based on what we can do for Him but solely on His love. It is because of His love that He saved us. Remember, God chose us to be with Him before the creation of the world; it means that we didn't even exist when He started loving us. If we haven't been praying and reading our Bible, and it seems like our relationship with Him is dry, let us remember that God is not far from us, or we are far from Him. As a matter of fact, when we feel distant from Him, He is closer than ever because He doesn't want us to stray away from Him. The Spirit of God is always there to prompt us to pray and read our Bible because He wants to encourage us and draw us closer to Him again.
So be on a good cheer today, even when the price of gas and food are going up because we are secure in Him. There will be a day we will be sitting with our Lord Jesus in Heaven. And all the foolish things that are happening in this world today will not matter then. When we feel the pressure of life, let us remember that all these will come to pass, and there is a place in Heaven that is waiting for us.
Ask yourself these questions: What did God promise us when we put our faith in Christ Jesus? Do I earn my spot in Heaven by my good works or performance in my service to Him? How should I live my life today as I face challenges?
Write down all the worries you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, thank you for securing me a place in Heaven. I am so blessed to know that I didn't have to earn it because if I have to earn it, I may not be able to afford it because of my weaknesses. I realize that I can do only good through you. Would you please empower me today with your Spirit that I may live my life for your glory and honor on whatever I will face today? In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
