October of 2021, seventeen missionaries (Canadian and American) from Christian Aid Ministries in Ohio went to Haiti to visit an orphanage. While there, a gang known as 400 Mawozo abducted them and demanded a ransom for their deliverance. As a result, many people provided funds to pay a ransom and allow the negotiation process to continue. Eventually, five were released, and the rest of the twelve managed to escape. Our Lord Jesus did the same thing to us when He paid the ransom for our sin. We were under the bondage of sin, and the only way for our freedom was for someone to pay for our release. The price for our release was the life of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus loved us so much that He laid down His life for our ransom that we may become free.
In 1 Peter 1:18-19 says, "For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God." The phrase "paid a ransom" in the above verses means "redeemed." God redeemed us from our sins because we inherited the sins of Adam when he sinned in the garden of Eden. Our Heavenly Father gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us from our sin because He loved us and was precious to Him. So If Satan puts in our minds that we are not important and loved, let us remind ourselves of what Jesus had done in our life.
Jesus loved us with His life, and nothing can change that. We are valued and loved by our Heavenly Father, who created the earth and the rest of the universe. Let us look at the cross when we doubt our value or worth as a person. Let us say these words to ourselves when Satan's lies enter our minds, "I am redeemed by the precious blood of my Lord Jesus; therefore, I am loved and valued."
Ask yourself these questions: What is the payment for my sin? Why did Jesus redeem me with His life? How should I live my life knowing that I have been redeemed by the precious blood of my Lord Jesus?
Write down all the worries you face Today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, thank you for redeeming me with the precious blood of my Lord Jesus. I am free from the bondage of sin and can now live for you because of what you have done in my life. Thank you for loving me and making me your precious child. In your name Jesus, I pray. Amen.
