LACK OF WISDOM

We are all susceptible to facing situations beyond our own understanding, and this is the reason we need the wisdom of God. James 1:5 says, "If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking." God knows that our understanding is limited. Every day, we make decisions that relate to our personal life, work, school, relationships, etc. And there are times that we are confused about which direction to take, especially when all directions seem good for us. However, the Bible warns us in Proverbs 14:12 that says, "There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death." Since we cannot see beyond what we can know and understand, we need to ask God for wisdom, for God promised us that when we lack wisdom, He will give us generously.

A man went hiking in a dense forest in South America, and he got confused with the trail and veered off in the wrong direction. He tried to go back to the trail, but the more he tried it, the more he got confused, so he started panicking and getting nervous. He decided to stop moving and began to pray for God's wisdom. As he was praying, he became calm, and God started to give him wisdom on how to get back to the trail. He realized that he was looking at bushes and trees in front of him when he was walking, but he never looked up to see the sky and the forest pattern above him. God gave him the wisdom to find some clues on the pattern of the forest and the formation of the sky as his reference. As he was carefully examining his surroundings, he started remembering where he came from.

We can relate to the man's story. We can get lost in this life's demands and pressures, and sometimes we do not know where to turn to get back to where we were. Maybe we lost our way back to God. We try to go back, but we do not know how. The answer is to ask God for wisdom. If we want to get back or stay on the right track, we need to ask God for wisdom, and He will give us wisdom generously.

Ask yourself these questions: What should I do when I am confused and do not know what to do in my current situation? What does God promise me when I am asking for wisdom?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, you are the source of wisdom. Please give me wisdom in dealing with my current situation. Please help me to trust in You with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding, but in all my ways, please help me submit to you that you may lead me to the straight path. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
