MIRACLES AND HEALING

After Jesus spent time in Gerasene, He went to the other side of the lake again in a boat. Upon arriving there, he met with a synagogue official named Jairus. Jairus pleaded with Jesus to come to his house and heal his dying twelve-year-old daughter. So Jesus went with him, but on the way there, many people were crowding around Him, and a woman who had been bleeding for twelve years came close to Jesus and touched Him, believing that if she could only touch Jesus, she would be healed. The moment she touched Jesus, she was healed completely. And Jesus felt His power came out of Him. He turned around and asked who touched Him. The disciples were confused that Jesus asked that question because everybody was crowding around Him. But the woman, realizing what happened to her, went to Jesus, knelt before Him, and told Him what had happened. Jesus then told her that her faith had made her well. When Jesus arrived at Jairus' house, the servants told them the daughter had died. Many people were already mourning. But Jesus told them that the little child was not dead but only asleep, and the people laughed at Him. Jesus took Peter, James, John, Jairus, and his wife to where the daughter was lying. Then Jesus took the child by the hand and said, "Talitha Kum!" (which translated means, "Little girl, 'I say to you, arise!"). And immediately, the girl rose and began to walk. (Mark 5:21-43).

Jesus performed these two miracles to let us know He is always present in our situations. No matter how busy our Lord Jesus, He always has time for each of us. The woman who touched Him and got healed was an example that we can always approach God with our situation. Raising the twelve-year-old child is an example for us that there is nothing impossible to God. When we read these stories in the Bible, we need to remind ourselves that these are real stories that happened in the past. They are written to teach and remind us of who our God is.

So no matter what is going on with us today, let us look up to Jesus. Let us put our faith in Him. Nothing too small or too big of a situation that our Lord Jesus cannot handle. We only need to put our faith in Him by lifting our prayers needs to Him.

Ask yourself these questions: How was the woman healed and the child raised from the dead? How can I describe Jesus in these two stories? Do I believe that Jesus can help me in my current situation, and do I trust Him?

Write down all the worries you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Father in Heaven, thank you for always being with me in every situation I am going through. You know my needs and struggles. There is nothing hidden from your eyes. Please help me to trust in you and walk in faith. I lift up my (mention your specific needs) to you. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayers. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
