PERSONAL GOD

Many people believe that God is a distant God. They claim that after God created the world and everything in it, including Adam and Eve, He abandoned them and allowed them to figure out how to live in His creation. They meant that God didn't care about human beings, and so we could live whatever we wanted to live our lives. However, this belief does not align with what God teaches us in His Word, our Bible. The reason God commanded and guided Moses to build the Tabernacle is because He wanted to be with His people. In the Holy of Holies, the Ark of the Covenant was located. The Ark of the Covenant is where God's presence resides. Inside the Ark of the Covenant, the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments, Aaron's staff that had budded, and the jar of manna that God provided for them when they were in the wilderness were kept (Hebrews 9:4). In Exodus 25:22, God said these words to Moses, “I will meet with you there and talk to you from above the atonement cover between the gold cherubim that hover over the Ark of the Covenant. From there I will give you my commands for the people of Israel."

God is not a distant God. He is a personal God. He is always with His people. Even now, God is with us whether we feel His presence or not. God does not deal with us through our feelings, but He deals with us through His faithfulness. There are times in our problems and desperate times make us feel that God does not care about us, but God is always with us, working behind the scenes of our situations. When God commanded the nation of Israel to take the kingdom of Jericho, God instructed Joshua to march around the wall of Jericho with the Ark of the Covenant in front for six days, and on the seventh day, they would shout all together. When Joshua and the Israelites obeyed God, the wall of Jericho fell miraculously, and the Israelites were able to conquer the kingdom of Jericho. There is nothing that our God cannot fix and solve.

Let us be encouraged today that God is a personal God who is always with us. He will work everything out according to His purpose and plan. Let us rest in the Lord, believing that He is with us.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Do I believe that God is a personal God? If I believe that God is always with me, what should be my attitude toward my current problems? What is God showing me in today's devotion?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for reminding me today that you are a personal God who is always with me regardless of what I feel. I praise you for your faithfulness and loving care. Please help me rest in you and believe that you are going to take care of all my concerns according to your plan and purpose. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
