PRAISING GOD

Writer's picture: Danny DomingoDanny Domingo

In Psalm 103:1-5, David wrote, "Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle's!" When David remembered all the good things that God had done for Him, he praised God with all that He was and with his whole heart. David reflected on how God forgave his sins, healed his ailments, rescued him from death, blessed him with love and mercies, and filled his life with good things. Through these acts of grace, he felt renewed like the eagles soaring over the horizon. When David praised God with all his being, it meant that he lived out his praise to God. People could see how he praised God in the way he lived his life. David's heart was full of appreciation for everything that God had done for him; as a result, he praised God with all his heart.

Through all of David's failures and sins, he discovered the life-changing power of God's forgiveness. When King Saul pursued him with his armies to kill him, despite having done nothing wrong, he experienced being rescued from death by God over and over again. David experienced God's love, mercy, and grace through all the hardships that he had gone through. When God is on our side, it does not imply that we will avoid difficult situations. However, in those challenging times, God remains with us. We may question God because we do not completely understand what is going on in our lives, but when we are through our difficulties, we will appreciate God more because it is through our difficulties that we experience God's power, grace, love, and mercies. If we want to praise God with our whole hearts, we must remember God's goodness in our lives. I want to encourage everyone to remember God's goodness in our lives so that we can praise Him for whatever is happening in our lives today.

Life's difficulties are always around the corner, but we should not be fearful or worried because it is during our difficulties that we experience God's power, love, mercy, and grace. We praise God when we remember and appreciate all His goodness in our lives.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Why is it important to remember God's goodness in my life? What happens when I remember God's goodness? Describe five things that God has done for me in the past.

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, I praise and thank you for all the good things you have done in my life. I praise you for forgiving all my sins. Although I was as guilty as I could be, you forgave me and blessed me with your grace and mercy. Thank you for loving me even when I am not lovable because of my sinful attitude. I praise you for granting my prayer requests in the past and delivering me from difficult problems. Please help me never to forget your goodness in my life so that I may praise you with all my heart. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
