THE BIRTH OF OUR LORD JESUS

Merry Christmas!!! Today, we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus. While Joseph and Mary were in Bethlehem to register for the Roman census, the appointed time for God to be born as the Savior of the world came. Luke 2:7 says, "And she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger because there was no guest room available for them." Our Lord Jesus was born in a stable where the animals were eating and sleeping, and they could only find a small wooden trough or a manger where they could put the fragile body of the baby Jesus comfortably. A manger is used to feed the animals. Our Lord Jesus could have come as an adult conquering King wearing golden crowns and dressed in magnificent robes escorted by thousands of mighty angels. His glory could have covered all the universe with His immense power since He is the creator of the universe and everything in it. However, God chose to come through a humble virgin girl living in a small town called Nazareth. One of the reasons Jesus came in humble means is because he wanted to relate to all people. He came not only for the rich and the elite but also for the poor and destitute. Jesus did not come to conquer the world with mighty power, but He came as a servant to conquer the hearts of humanity by sacrificing His life on the cross for the forgiveness of sins.

When we woke up this morning, people were enjoying their Christmas gifts. However, the true spirit of Christmas is not about giving and receiving gifts; it is about celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus. We celebrate Christmas because it is the day when God fulfilled the promise to Abraham that the families of the world would be blessed. Jesus, through Mary, was born through the line of Abraham. The whole creation had been waiting for this day that the Messiah, the Savior of the world, would come. God gave us the greatest gift of all, our Lord Jesus. Let us rejoice and celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus today. Let us remind our families through our gift-giving the true meaning of Christmas. Jesus was born to give us eternal hope and life.

Merry Christmas, everyone. May our Lord Jesus fill our hearts with His love, joy, and peace as we celebrate His birth today. Let us take a moment to say, "Happy Birthday!!!" to our Lord Jesus.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) What is the meaning of Christmas? Am I willing to take time today to spend time with my Lord Jesus to greet him, "Happy Birthday!!!" and thank Him for coming to my life? What should be my attitude in today's Christmas?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, Happy Birthday!!! Thank you for coming into my life to give me hope and eternal life. I want to express my gratitude to you for changing my life and saving me from my sins. Thank you, Father in Heaven, for giving me the greatest gift of all. Despite the business of the season, please help me to slow down to praise and worship you. Please bless and protect my family today as we enjoy celebrating your birthday, Lord Jesus. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
