When we think of our Lord Jesus, we normally think of what He has done in our lives. He sacrificed His life for our sin and rose from the dead so that we may have a new life in Him. We all know that we are saved through our faith in Him forever. However, there will be a day that He will come back to judge the world. 2 Peter 3:10 says, "But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment." When Jesus comes back the second time, no one knows when that will be. It will surprise everyone. Matthew 24:36 says, "But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only."
But for us who genuinely believe in Jesus, we will be saved from His coming judgment on this earth. He will take us to be with Him, and we will be changed forever. Titus 2:13 says, "Waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ." Although we experience the sin and suffering of this world now, all these things will someday end. Our Lord Jesus will judge all sin and restore everything with His power and might. He will bring a new heaven and a new earth free from sin and death.
So let us continue to persevere in our faith in Him. Many people will try to follow the desires of their hearts and disregard the Word of God. They will even insult and mistreat those who believe in the Lord Jesus. But a time is coming that Jesus will judge this world. The second coming of our Lord Jesus is a blessing for us who believe in Him, but it will be a judgment on those who reject Him as His Lord and Savior.
Ask yourself these questions: What will happen when Jesus comes back the second time? Does anyone know when Jesus will come back? How does the second coming of Jesus affect my life?
Write down all the worries you are facing today and lift them up to God.
Prayer:
Father in Heaven, I am thankful that my hope is in you. I am looking for the day when my Lord Jesus comes back and rescues me from the sin and suffering of this world. I pray that those who reject Jesus as their Lord and Savior will open their hearts and believe in Him before the coming judgment. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
