THE ROCK OF MY SALVATION

Psalm 95:1-5 says, "Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God, And the great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth; The heights of the hills are His also. The sea is His, for He made it; And His hands formed the dry land." The first part of Psalm 95 is the invitation to praise our LORD. Our LORD is the Rock or the great foundation of our salvation. Our salvation is not based on human power, but it is based on God's sovereign power. In John 10:27-29, Jesus said, "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand."

During this Thanksgiving season, let us come and praise our God, for He saved us from our sins with the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus. When our God saved us, we became His, like sheep. God takes care of us just like a good shepherd takes care of his sheep. God will do anything to protect us. We indeed suffer and go through hardship in life, but God will not allow us to be destroyed by anything or lose our salvation, for we are His. Our salvation is beyond death and life on this earth. Our body may perish, but we will live on with our God in Heaven. Romans 8:38-39 says, "And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Let us come into His presence by spending time with Him in prayer and worship. Let us thank God for saving us from our sins and giving us a new life. Our salvation in Him is secure because He is the foundation of our salvation.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) What is one of the reasons that I need to give thanks to God? Why is it important to know that God is the Rock of my salvation? Can I be separated from the love of God?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you for being the Rock of my Salvation. I am secure in you because you saved me with the death and resurrection of my Lord Jesus. Thank you that nothing can separate me from your love. Please help me to make time to worship and give you thanks this Thanksgiving season. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
