THE SUPREME GOD

Many religions teach that there are millions of gods worldwide. The Hindu religion alone believes in millions of gods. Others do not believe in any religion, but they make themselves gods. However, there is only one true God. Psalm 97:9 says, "For you, O Lord, are supreme over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods." The God of Israel, YHWH, is superior to any gods. There is no other God equal to our God. As a result, we must humble ourselves before Him, for He is the one who created everything, including us. He is the only God who loves us. The other gods that were created through the people's imagination do not have emotions like our God. Our God is the only God who is willing to die for our sins. We were lost in our sinful ways and had no hope of rescuing ourselves from Satan's bondage, yet our Lord Jesus came to rescue us by dying on the cross for us. Our God is the only God who can give blessings upon blessings to those who believe in our Lord Jesus and judge those who reject our Lord Jesus. Psalm 97:10-12 says, "You who love the LORD, hate evil! He protects the lives of his godly people and rescues them from the power of the wicked. Light shines on the godly, and joy on those whose hearts are right. May all who are godly rejoice in the LORD and praise his holy name!"

We are blessed because we are all children of God through our faith in our Lord Jesus. Let us remember that our God is supreme over all things and loves us deeply. He is not a God who always sits on His throne, judging every person who sins against Him. We have to remember that God is a merciful, gracious, and loving God. Too often, our God is wrongfully compared to a horrible and self-centered father who does not care about his children. However, our God is farther from that comparison. Romans 5:8 says, "But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners." When we were naked of our sins, our Lord Jesus Christ clothes us with His righteousness. Our supreme God loves and cares about us. He is the only God who always pursues us with His love.

When we sin against Him, He is always ready to forgive us when we confess our sins to Him because He always desires to have fellowship with us. He will never get tired of us, for we are always the apple of His eyes. He will never give up on us.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) What does it mean for God to be supreme? Describe how God loves and cares about me. What lesson has God shown me from today's devotion?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, You are supreme, and there is no one beside you. You reign with power and majesty. All manufactured gods and idols bow down before you. Satan and the demons have no match against you. You are supreme, yet you love and care about me. I praise and worship you. Please help me always to humble myself before, trust you with all of my heart, and obey your ways. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen.
