THE SUPREME LORD OVER ALL THE EARTH

In Psalm 83, Asaph concludes his prayer by saying: "Let them be ashamed and terrified forever. Let them die in disgrace. Then they will learn that you alone are called the Lord, that you alone are the Most High, supreme over all the earth." Asaph is referring to those who reject God and continue to go against Him. The Bible says that Jesus is the only way to our God the Father, the only truth that can save us, and the only life that gives us eternal life (John 14:6). Jesus said these words, "Whoever believes in the Son (Jesus) has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son (Jesus) will not see life, for God's wrath remains on them." In Revelation 20:11-15, the apostle John explains to us what will happen to those who reject our Lord Jesus and continue to live against God in the end, "And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide. I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God's throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds. Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire."

In the end, when God finally judges the world with sin, everyone who was born, dead or alive, will see our Lord Jesus sitting on the throne. The souls of everyone will bow down before our Lord Jesus and confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11). People on this earth will acknowledge that Jesus is Lord now or later when He finally showed Himself as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. We are blessed that we already believe that Jesus is Lord, and we will someday see Him face to face and worship Him in His very presence. No matter how people try to discredit our Lord Jesus, it will not change the fact that He is the Lord of all. Let us not be discouraged today because our Lord Jesus sits on His throne, praying for each and every one of us. The world may hate God, but they will never win against God because He is always in control.

Let us continue to pray for those who have not believed in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. As long as they are still alive on this earth, they still have a chance to be saved.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) Who is the only way, the truth, and the life? Do I believe in Jesus? What will happen to those who reject God when Jesus returns to judge this world with sin?

Take a moment to write down all your worries today. Then, lift them up to God in prayer, surrendering them to His will and trusting in His guidance.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, the time will come when you will judge this world with sin. Thank you for saving me through your Son, Jesus. I pray for those who are still lost that they will come to know and believe in the Lord Jesus. Please help me to be a light of your truth and influence this world with your love and grace. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
