UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

Writer's picture: Danny DomingoDanny Domingo

The greatest demonstration of God's love towards us is His death on the cross for our sins. God knows that we deserve to die because the penalty of our sin is death. However, Jesus chose to die on the cross on behalf of us. While we were lost in our sin, Jesus Christ died for us. This is very important for us to understand because we need to know how much Jesus loves us. Jesus loves us not because of what we can do for Him or what we can offer to Him, but He loves us just the way we are.

There was a brother and a sister who lost both of their parents when the rebels came to their village and killed many people. They were able to escape unharmed, but they had to flee from their village to a safe place. They saw many people fleeing from their village, so they decided to follow them. They ended up in a refugee camp next to their country. The caseworker in the refugee camp took them to an orphanage since they were under ten years old. After three years in the orphanage, an American couple adopted them. At first, the kids were very afraid of their adopted parents because they were different and spoke a different language. As the kids adjust in their new family, they learned that they were loved, not because of what they could do or offer, but because their adopted parents chose to love and accept them just the way they were, even though they were different.

Our Lord Jesus loves us the same way. He chose to love us even though we do not know Him. We do not need to prove to God that we are lovable. He loves us just the way we are. His love is always the same and complete, even when we chose to disobey Him. He loves us so much that He is changing us to become more like Him day by day. So no matter how you feel about yourself today, you are loved by our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ask yourself these questions: Do I truly believe that God loves me? How should I see myself as a child of God? Do I need to prove to God that I am lovable so that He can love me?

Write down all the worries that you are facing today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank you for loving me just the way I am. Thank you, heavenly Father, for adopting me as your child. Thank you for loving me. I pray that I will continue to learn to love you back and serve you. Please help me now with (mention your prayer requests). In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
