WE ALWAYS HAVE HOPE IN GOD

All of us go through difficult situations. Life on this earth is full of unexpected circumstances that we do not have control over. Natural disasters, sickness, sin, relationships, our jobs, the economy, and our safety sometimes come crashing down on us. David wrote this in Psalm 69:1-5, "Save me, O God, for the floodwaters are up to my neck. Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire; I can't find a foothold I am in deep water, and the floods overwhelm me. I am exhausted from crying for help; my throat is parched. My eyes are swollen with weeping, waiting for my God to help me. Those who hate me without cause outnumber the hairs on my head. Many enemies try to destroy me with lies, demanding that I give back what I didn't steal. O God, you know how foolish I am; my sins cannot be hidden from you." David used the figure of speech, "the floodwaters are up to my neck," to illustrate his desperate situation. One of my friends once said to me, "my nose is just above the water, I am barely surviving each day."

It is very difficult to live when we are in a very desperate situation, but we should not give up in life because we always have hope in God. No matter how desperate we are, God is always there to help and rescue us. He sees everything that we are going through. We must persevere in our faith in Him because, in due time, God will restore our situation. We will become wiser and stronger because of the experiences that He allows us to go through. David never gave up His faith in God and kept on praying, "But I keep praying to you, Lord, hoping this time you will show me favor. In your unfailing love, O God, answer my prayer with your sure salvation. Rescue me from the mud; don't let me sink any deeper! Save me from those who hate me, and pull me from these deep waters. Don't let the floods overwhelm me, or the deep waters swallow me, or the pit of death devour me (Psalm 69:13-15)."

Let us keep on praying when we are overwhelmed and never give up, for God is always with us. God sees our sufferings and sins, but His grace is more than sufficient to cover us. In due time, God will turn our situation around and restore us.

Questions for application: (Think through these questions carefully, meditate on them while answering them, and let the Spirit of God speak to you.) How am I doing today? How should I respond when I am overwhelmed? Why is prayer important?

Write down all the worries you face today and lift them up to God.

Prayer:

Dear Father in Heaven, You are my hope when I feel hopeless. You are my stability when I am standing on uncertain ground. I pray that I will hold on to you and trust you. Please help me never give up, but keep on trusting in You, for in due time, You will restore me and make everything right. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
